Job summary

Dematic is seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to design and program semi-complex automation systems. You will integrate hardware and software, write PLC code, and assist with schematics, BoM, and documentation while collaborating with customers on site.

The role requires hands-on PLC experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens TIA Portal), network knowledge (Ethernet/Profibus/ASi), and on-site startup capability. A 4-year degree or equivalent is expected, with travel 25–40%.

Qualifications

Hands-on PLC experience required.
Experience with Allen Bradley, Schneider Unity, or Siemens TIA Portal.
Working knowledge of Profibus, ASi, Ethernet networks.
Experience describing operations and developing control layouts.
Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical.
Strong time-management and communication skills.
On-site startup/commissioning experience.
2-8 years of related experience.
Advanced degree may substitute for experience.
Travel 25–40% (weekends/holidays possible).
4 year degree or equivalent in a related discipline.

Responsibilities

Participates in the design of semi-complex systems integrating hardware and software.
Writes PLC code for semi-complex systems using standard practices.
Assists with material specs, schematic prep, BoM development, and follow-up.
Helps identify productivity improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.
Manages semi-complex projects through the full lifecycle: design, documentation, forecasting.
Supports complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for processes and product application.
Troubleshoots programming and electrical issues on site.
Interacts with customers on site.
