Job summary

Dematic is seeking a senior Controls Engineer to design and commission automated material handling systems, including electrical design, PLC, HMI and drives. You will prepare estimates, read schematics, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions for customers across the United States.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Engineering, has 5+ years in controls engineering, and is proficient with Rockwell RSLogix, RSLogix software, and Dematic Flexsort.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering.
• 5+ years of successful experience in controls engineering and material handling.
• Experience in designing and commissioning automated material handling systems, including electrical design, PLC, HMI, and drives.
• Experience with estimating projects preferred (hours required, resources required, etc.).
• Proficient in Rockwell Automation PLC programming languages with RSLogix software.
• Understanding of serial and ethernet based communications and protocols.
• Material Handling Equipment experience with conveyance and sortation systems, including PLC hardware upgrades, VFD upgrades, Dematic Flexsort, and industrial networking; ability to concept solutions and generate estimates to support Sales requests.
• Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Ability to interpret complex, less clearly defined issues in controls work; communicate with customers to capture requirements.

Responsibilities

• Understand the design of materials handling systems that integrate electrical controls hardware, programming and software to estimate controls solutions for customers.
• Complete material specification and read schematics and PLC programs, with appropriate follow-up of technical details.
• Complete recommendations for productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction.
• Perform technical interchange and knowledge transfer for processes and application of products to system design.
• Perform the full range of standard work for the professional field.
• Travel to Customer and Dematic locations across the United States.
