Job summary

ENGEL North America is seeking a Controls Engineer to program new robots and automation equipment, modify software, and troubleshoot existing systems at customer sites.

You will work with project teams to ensure electrical schematics and communication protocols are integrated, develop HMI, and support service technicians across North America. A BS in software engineering, 3–5 years in robotics/automation, and experience with major PLCs/robotics are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering is required or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years related experience (preferred in Robotic and/or Automation).
• Full understanding of electrical schematics and other technical drawings (preferred pneumatic and mechanical drawings).
• Capable of ladder logic, function block and structure text programming.

Responsibilities

• Program new robots and automation equipment, modify existing software.
• Troubleshoot and debug software for industrial robots and equipment.
• Develop and implement automation projects with cross-functional teams.
• Design HMI and visualization for production cells.
• Programming of communication protocols (EtherCAT, Ethernet, I/O Link, OPC UA, Profibus, DeviceNet).
• Produce operator instructions and documentation.
