Job summary

ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead programming of new robots and automation equipment, modify software for industrial robots, and troubleshoot existing products across customer sites and facilities.

You will design electrical schematics, develop HMI, and implement communication protocols (EtherCAT, Ethernet, I/O Link, OPC UA, Profibus). Requires 7+ years experience, Bachelor's in software engineering, and strong C++, Java and SAP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering is required or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 7+ years related experience (preferred in Robotic and/or Automation).
• Full understanding of electrical schematics and other technical drawings; capable of ladder logic, function block and structured text programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation system based on customer specifications and ensure hardware integration.
• Create and modify electrical schematics using CAD programs (Promis, E-Plan, AutoCAD).
• Adapt schematics to software requirements and design HMI/production cell visualization.
• Program communication protocols (EtherCAT, Ethernet, I/O Link, OPC UA, Profibus, DeviceNet).
• Troubleshoot software at production facilities and customer sites; provide cross‑functional support.
• Develop documentation and base software for automation projects.
