Job summary

Engtal is seeking a Controls Engineer to design and implement control systems for custom robotic machinery in Grand Rapids, MI. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to create robust control architectures and validate performance.

Responsibilities include programming PLCs/HMIs, debugging control software, and supporting on-site run-off with customers. Candidates should have hands-on automation experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
• Solid hands-on experience in controls engineering within machine-building or industrial automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI systems.
• Experience with robotics.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues independently.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to control systems and industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Design control systems for custom-built robotic machinery.
• Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and other control devices.
• Integrate control systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Support on-site run-off and validation with customers.
• Create detailed control system documentation and reports.
