Job summary

ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Controls Engineer to program and modify software for industrial robots and automation equipment. You will troubleshoot and enhance systems, collaborate with project teams, and ensure safety and documentation standards are met.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in software engineering or equivalent experience, 3–5 years in robotics/automation, and travel 5–15% (including international). Knowledge of CAD and SAP is a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in software engineering required or equivalent industry experience.
3–5 years of related experience in robotics/automation preferred.

Responsibilities

Programming of new robots and automation equipment.
Modify existing software for industrial robots and custom automation equipment.
Troubleshoot and debug existing products.
Design HMI and visualization for production cells.
Program communication protocols (EtherCAT, Ethernet, I/O Link, OPC UA, Profibus, DeviceNet).
Provide technical support to project engineering and assembly departments and service technicians.
