Job summary

Sherwin-Williams in Garland, Texas is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop and optimize controls systems in our manufacturing facility. You will lead small project teams and collaborate with operations to troubleshoot during construction or installation.

The role requires PLC/HMI experience, a engineering degree, and at least one year in manufacturing. We offer a bonus program and a Monday–Friday schedule with occasional weekends and 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Must have formal training in or at least one year of experience implementing Programmable Logic Controllers ("PLC") and/or Human-Machine Interface ("HMI").
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or four years of engineering work experience.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Programmable Logic Controllers ("PLC") and Human-Machine Interface ("HMI") skills to optimize control and quality systems.
• Analyze plant processes, design, and implement improvements.
• Troubleshoot issues with hardware and processes.
• Optimize processes to attain lower manufacturing costs, increased productivity, and reduced cycle times.
• Identify training needs and develop training and standard operating procedures for employees to ensure effective use of continuous process improvement methodologies.
• Identify, communicate, and overcome obstacles that may prohibit meeting production requirements.
• Partner with operating employees to identify opportunities and improve processes via training or capital expenditure recommendations.
• Maintain quality and safety standards.
