Job summary

International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) near Tuscaloosa, AL is seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer to design, implement and optimize automated systems across electrical, robotic, and PLC platforms.

Ideal candidates will lead projects, mentor teams, and work with Siemens PLCs, TIA Portal, Profibus and safety systems. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance available to qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of automation experience in manufacturing.
• Strong experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of Profibus, Profisafe, Safety Integrated and ASI-Bus.
• Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
• Familiarity with risk assessments and safety evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing modifications to existing electrical, robotic, and PLC automation equipment to improve uptime and reliability.
• Troubleshooting controls and automation systems and driving equipment improvements.
• Managing projects, suppliers, and new process equipment while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinating major maintenance, emergency repairs, and corrective actions.
• Supporting continuous improvement and capital projects.
• Leading and mentoring others through troubleshooting, equipment design, and automation development.

• Strong experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal
• Knowledge of Profibus, Profisafe, Safety Integrated, and ASI-Bus
• Ability to create and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
• Familiarity with risk assessments and safety evaluations

Bonus points if you have:

• Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA
• Experience with FANUC Robots, FANUC Vision, Cognex Vision, and Atlas Copco tools
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and safety codes
• AutoCAD experience
