Job summary

Innovate is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support control systems, automation and instrumentation across multiple manufacturing facilities with approximately 25% travel.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 5+ years in instrumentation and control systems, and 3+ years working with contractors, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. DeltaV experience is preferred for this hands-on position across several sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of instrumentation and control systems experience.
  • 3+ years working with contractors.
  • Experience with PLC/DCS/SCADA/HMI systems, including DeltaV.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel ~25% and support multiple facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, commission and support PLC, DCS, SCADA and HMI systems.
  • Work with DeltaV and associated instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot and optimise control systems to improve safety, reliability and performance.
  • Lead control system changes through the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Support capital projects from design through commissioning and handover.
  • Develop control system standards, documentation and cybersecurity practices.
  • Support historians and automation data integrations.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and IT/OT teams.
  • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical guidance, training and mentoring.

Job description

Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Controls Engineer. This is a hands‑on engineering role supporting control systems, automation and instrumentation across multiple manufacturing facilities, with approximately 25% travel.

Due to the nature of the business, we can only consider US Citizens / Green card holders. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

The role
  • Design, program, commission and support PLC, DCS, SCADA and HMI systems
  • Work with DeltaV and associated instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot and optimise control systems to improve safety, reliability and performance
