Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Controls Engineer within the Fleet Remediation Engineering team to design, specify, and implement BMS and EPMS controls for data center retrofit projects. You will bridge mechanical/electrical retrofit design with controls integration and ensure systems are monitored, controlled, and optimized across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in industrial or commercial engineering for data centers or mission critical facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, or related field; or 5+ years equivalent.
• 2+ years experience with data center or mission-critical facility control systems (BMS/EPMS).
• 2+ years experience with HVAC systems, control concepts, and power distribution schematics.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, control diagrams, and submittals.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls design and integration for retrofit projects across the data center fleet (BMS/EPMS).
• Develop and maintain controls design standards, specifications, and SOWs for fleet retrofit projects.
• Collaborate with FRE mechanical/electrical engineers, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
• Serve as the central technical authority for BMS/EPMS within FRE; manage controls scope.
• Review control sequences, diagrams, and network architecture for retrofit apps.
• Coordinate with controls vendors and programmers on bid reviews, RFIs, and code reviews.
• Develop sequences of operation and diagrams for HVAC upgrades and power modifications.
• Interact with AWS cloud services and data analytics platforms for reporting and energy optimization.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support retrofit initiatives.
• Provide engineering judgment for legacy systems with limited documentation.
