Couch Oil is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations. This individual will play a key role in both tactical execution and long‑term financial strategy, ensuring strong financial management, operational efficiency, and a data‑driven approach to growth. As a key member of the leadership team, this high‑impact role provides a strategic voice in shaping the company’s financial direction and long‑term success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including month‑end and year‑end closings, financial reporting, payroll, job costing, and cash flow management.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to drive insights that enhance business performance and support future projections.
- Utilize Sage Intacct to manage financial reporting, general ledger activities, and budget tracking, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting operations.
- Manage relationships with external CPA firms for tax preparation, audits, and compliance matters.
- Run reports and analyze data to highlight critical areas for operational and financial improvement.
- Optimize working capital management, debt obligations, and cost control initiatives.
- Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance using ADP software.
- Actively participate in hiring and training finance and accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and professional development.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement).
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and enforce internal controls to prevent fraud and errors.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Assist in pricing strategies and margin analysis.
- Streamline accounting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support business growth.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Strong background in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and accounting.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to build, train, and develop teams.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a keen instinct for hiring and team management.
- High level of proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools, and payroll software.
- Ability to balance tactical execution and strategic decision‑making, contributing to both daily operations and long‑term growth strategies.
