Job summary

A professional services firm is seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial operations. The role includes overseeing accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions. Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • At least 2 years in a controller or finance leadership role.
  • Prior experience in a professional services firm is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including GL and AP/AR.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and compliance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate external audits and tax filings.

Base pay range

$120,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of our professional services firm. This role will oversee all accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions while serving as a strategic partner to leadership. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of service-based revenue recognition, project accounting, and operational finance within a fast-paced, client‑focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and billing
  • Lead the month‑end and year‑end close processes and prepare financial statements
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and compliance with GAAP
  • Coordinate and manage external audits and tax filings
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Provide financial insights and reporting to support decision‑making and performance monitoring
  • Partner with leadership on strategic planning, pricing, and profitability analysis
  • Supervise and mentor accounting team members
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 2 years in a controller or finance leadership role
  • Prior experience in a professional services firm is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and project‑based accounting
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment
