Job summary

Irvine Technology Corporation (ITC) is seeking a Controller to manage the full accounting function, including close, GL, and reporting, with a direct line to the CEO. You will lead a two-person team and help shape finance strategy as ITC grows, including integrating AI into reporting and processes.

Location is remote in the Central Time Zone with regular travel to Nashville, TN. Compensation ranges from $140,000 to $155,000 per year, plus bonus, with no visa sponsorship available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience with month-end close ownership.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and ability to fix errors before they reach the financials.
• Experience supervising a small team preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Own the general ledger and reporting relied on by leadership.
• Oversee billing, payroll accounting, commissions, AP and AR across systems.
• Mentor a two-person team and step in as needed.
• Build budgets/forecasts and analyze actuals vs. plan.
• Collaborate with external CPAs on tax filings and leverage AI for better reporting.

This is a chance to run the full accounting function at a growing IT staffing firm, with a direct line to the CEO and a real voice in how the business grows. You’ll own the close, the general ledger and the reporting leadership relies on to make decisions, and you’ll lead a small team that looks to you for answers. What You’ll Do:

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including review of financial statements and adjusting entries
• Own the general ledger, journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
• Oversee billing, payroll accounting, commissions, AP and AR, and resolve discrepancies across systems
• Supervise and mentor a two-person team handling invoicing, timesheets, expenses and collections, and step in on the work when needed
• Build annual budgets and rolling forecasts, and track actual results against them
• Deliver reporting and analysis on margin, cash flow and collections that leadership can act on
• Work with our outside CPA firm on corporate and multistate tax filings
• Find ways to use AI and better reporting to reduce manual work and improve accuracy

What Gets You the Job:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA is a plus, not a requirement)
• Strong command of GAAP and core accounting principles, with the judgment to spot and fix errors before they reach the financials
• 5+ years of hands‑on accounting experience, including owning the month‑end close. Some experience supervising a small team preferred
• Experience running accounting at a small company as it scaled up, building the processes, controls and reporting to keep pace with growth
• Strong QuickBooks Enterprise and advanced Excel skills. Staffing industry and Bullhorn Back Office experience are a plus, and we’ll train you on both
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
• Experience working with outside CPAs on corporate tax; multistate experience is a plus
• Comfortable using AI in your daily work, with examples of how you’ve used it to speed up reporting or analysis
