Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and GAAP reporting.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on leases, fixed assets, and other matters.
• Oversee AP, AR, financial analysis, and related processes.
• Manage month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Partner with leadership to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
• Oversee multistate sales and use tax compliance with external tax advisors.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Leverage ERP systems, data analytics, and AI tools to enhance reporting.
• Support FP&A, pricing analysis, banking relationships, and business initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team.

Compensation: $150,000–$180,000 base salary + annual bonus

Work Arrangement: On-site with one remote day per week

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an established, growing manufacturing organization to identify a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting function and help drive continued operational and financial improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting leader who enjoys working closely with executive leadership, developing a team, improving processes, and contributing beyond traditional accounting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong GAAP knowledge, sound business judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the organization, with potential for expanded financial leadership responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, leases, fixed assets, and other accounting matters.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis, and related accounting processes.
• Manage month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, and internal financial controls.
• Partner with executive leadership and operations to provide financial insight and support business decisions.
• Oversee multistate sales and use tax compliance, coordinating with external tax advisors and supporting the transition to automated tax reporting.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve operational efficiency.
• Leverage ERP systems, data analytics, and emerging AI tools to enhance productivity, reporting, and financial analysis.
• Support financial planning, pricing analysis, customer proposals, banking relationships, and other business initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Significant accounting experience, including prior experience in a Controller or comparable accounting leadership role.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, technical accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience leading accounting teams and partnering with senior leadership.
• ERP experience required; NetSuite experience is preferred. Experience with Oracle, SAP, or comparable systems will also be considered.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with strategic business partnership.
• Comfort adopting new technologies and using data and automation to improve business processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience, particularly with inventory, cost accounting, and operational finance.
• CPA and/or Big Four public accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP implementations, system enhancements, or process improvement initiatives.
• Exposure to multistate sales and use tax compliance.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and financial analytics.
• Base salary of $150,000–$180,000, depending on experience.
• Annual performance-based bonus opportunity, with the target percentage to be confirmed.
• One remote workday per week.
