KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting in Rochester, NY seeks a Controller for a PE-backed SaaS company. This high-visibility role reports to the CFO and collaborates with the executive team and PE sponsor to build and scale accounting and finance infrastructure as the organization grows.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in accounting, 3+ in leadership, SaaS/financial services experience, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and a track record with external audits. CPA preferred; FP&A is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience including 3+ years in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations including GL, AP, payroll, fixed assets, accruals, month-end close and financial reporting.
• Oversee treasury operations: cash positioning, liquidity management, forecasting and banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and maintain strong internal controls.
• Manage external audits, tax advisors, financial statement reviews, and regulatory examinations.
• Develop scalable accounting policies, controls, reporting processes and treasury infrastructure.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations and other key functions.
• Lead and develop accounting personnel while driving process improvement and automation initiatives.

A high-growth, PE-backed SaaS company in the Rochester, NY area is seeking a Controller.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, Board, and PE sponsor. The Controller will have the opportunity to build and scale the accounting and finance infrastructure as the organization grows, rather than simply inherit and maintain an established function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, including GL, AP, payroll accounting, fixed assets, accruals, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Oversee treasury operations, cash positioning, liquidity management, forecasting, and banking relationships
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and maintain a strong internal control environment
• Manage external audits, tax advisors, financial statement reviews, and regulatory examinations
• Develop scalable accounting policies, controls, reporting processes, and treasury infrastructure
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and other key business functions
• Lead and develop accounting personnel while driving process improvement and automation initiatives

Ideal Background

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity
• Background in SaaS or financial services
• Significant treasury and cash management experience
• Strong U.S. GAAP and financial reporting knowledge
• Experience managing external audits
• CPA preferred
• Strong Excel and ERP systems background
• Experience presenting to executive leadership, Boards, and/or investors
• FP&A experience is a plus
