Job summary

The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting, treasury, compliance, and financial systems for a growing organization. This role serves as a trusted business partner to ownership and helps drive financial integrity and informed decision making.

The Controller will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, cash management, lender relationships, and system optimization. This position supports scaling processes and enhancing ERP/CRM platforms to sustain rapid growth

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a senior role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls.
  • CPA designation preferred; MBA or Master of Accountancy is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills with large datasets and financial models.
  • Experience leading process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Automotive/dealership/inventory/asset-intensive industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, Ramp, and Zapier.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, accruals, and general ledger activities.
  • Manage cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and inventory financing to support operations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for banking partners, lenders, insurance providers, and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate tax compliance activities including sales/use, property, and federal/state filings.
  • Review financial transactions, inventory activity, and accounting records for accuracy.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements.
  • Administer and optimize ERP, CRM, and workflow automation platforms.

Role Summary

The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting, treasury, compliance, and financial systems functions for a growing organization. This role serves as a trusted business partner to ownership and plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting operational decision making, and driving process improvements across the company.

The Controller will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, cash management, lender relationships, compliance activities, and accounting operations. This individual will also help scale processes, improve system efficiencies, and ensure accurate financial information is available to support strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, accruals, and general ledger activities
  • Manage cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and inventory financing to support business operations and growth initiatives
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for banking partners, lenders, insurance providers, and external financial stakeholders
  • Coordinate tax compliance activities including sales and use tax, property tax, and federal and state tax filings
  • Review financial transactions, inventory activity, commission calculations, and accounting records for accuracy and completeness
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase operational efficiency
  • Administer and optimize financial and business systems, including ERP, CRM, and workflow automation platforms
Key Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a senior accounting, finance, or Controller level role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and corporate accounting practices
  • CPA designation preferred; MBA or Master of Accountancy is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience working with large datasets, financial models, and relational databases
  • Experience leading process improvement, financial system optimization, and automation initiatives
  • Automotive, dealership, inventory-based, retail, or asset-intensive industry experience highly preferred
  • Experience with systems like Salesforce, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, Ramp, and/or Zapier
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization
