Job summary

Responsibilities

• Monitor shipments from origin pickup through final delivery.
• Review and update tracking reports every two hours.
• Track pickup, in-transit status, ETA, and delivery milestones.
• Obtain updates using TMS, GPS, and other tech platforms.
• Contact drivers, carriers, and partners for status updates.
• Document updates, ETAs, delays, and notes in systems.
• Monitor for delays and exceptions; escalate when needed.
• Follow up on outstanding updates and open items.
• Communicate shipment status to internal stakeholders.
• Track multi-mile movements and identify service disruptions.
• Confirm delivery status and supporting info when required.
• Maintain accurate shipment data in TMS and tools.
• Follow customer requirements and escalation procedures.

Job description

• Monitor active shipments and transportation milestones from origin pickup through final delivery


• Review and update shipment tracking reports at least every two hours


• Track pickup, in-transit status, estimated arrival, delivery, and other customer or operational checkpoints


• Obtain shipment updates using GPS, tracking systems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and other technology platforms


• Contact drivers, carriers, brokerage offices, and other transportation partners for status updates


• Document shipment updates, estimated arrival times, delays, and other relevant information in required systems and reports


• Monitor for missed milestones, potential delays, and exceptions; elevate concerns for resolution


• Follow up on outstanding shipment updates and open items


• Communicate timely shipment status information to internal stakeholders


• Track first-, middle-, and final-mile movements and identify potential service disruptions


• Confirm delivery status and supporting shipment information when required


• Maintain accurate shipment data in the TMS and other tracking tools


• Follow customer requirements, operating procedures, and escalation processes


• Support shipment research, reporting, ad-hoc reporting, projects, and other operational activities as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required


• 1–2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, customer service, dispatch, or a related field preferred


• Experience working with transportation management, shipment tracking, GPS, or similar technology platforms preferred


• Experience communicating with drivers, carriers, or transportation providers is a plus


• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams


• Ability to learn and effectively use Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS tracking platforms, and other transportation technology


• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate shipment information


• Strong organizational and time-management skills


• Ability to monitor multiple shipments and priorities in a deadline-driven environment


• Effective written and verbal communication skills


• Comfortable communicating by phone with drivers, carriers, brokerage offices, and internal teams


• Ability to identify potential delays or exceptions and elevate issues appropriately
