Job summary

Entegris, Inc. seeks an Engineer II, Systems and Controls Engineering to design, implement, and support automated control systems for advanced gas purification equipment in San Luis Obispo.

You will contribute to secure, connected automation solutions enabling higher performance and reliability. The role emphasizes PLC/HMI development, data analytics, AI-enabled workflows, and cross-functional collaboration across process, electrical, and software teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Controls, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related field.
• 2–4 years hands-on controls, automation, or process-control engineering in a process-industry environment.
• Experience designing, programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting PLC- and HMI-based industrial control systems.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation, process control, interlocks, alarms, and industrial communication networks.
• Experience with structured software development, source control, and change processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLC, HMI, and industrial control solutions from requirements through design, programming, integration, testing, commissioning, and lifecycle support.
• Translate process requirements and P&IDs into reliable control strategies for gas purification and delivery systems.
• Specify and integrate controllers, networks, instrumentation, and safety devices.
• Design data-ready architectures for diagnostics, analytics, and AI-assisted decision support.
• Create verification plans, run tests, and document results to ensure system quality.
