Job summary

Phlebotomist position in Germantown, MD on a contract basis with potential for permanent hire. Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm, 3 months duration with potential for perm. The role supports routine blood draws, specimen labeling, and compliance with OSHA/DEP regulations. Requires valid state phlebotomy certification and 5 years venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and accurate record keeping is expected. Benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labels, centrifuges, and freezes as required by test order.
