Job summary

Joseph Michaels International is seeking a Phlebotomist for a Germantown, MD assignment on a contract basis. The role runs for about 3 months with potential for permanent hire, scheduled Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm.

The position requires blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and careful data/documentation. A valid phlebotomy certification and at least 2 years of experience are required, along with basic Microsoft Office skills. Benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED
• minimum 2 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrates technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understands physicians' orders and matches requisitions to specimen tubes.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores according to protocol.
