Job summary

The Recruiting Hive in Monroe, NY seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract position with potential for permanent placement. The role includes performing venipunctures, labeling and transporting specimens, and ensuring accurate patient data and compliance with OSHA/DEP regulations.

Training and workflow improvements may be involved. Projected duration is 3 months with potential for perm; shift schedule is Mon–Thu 8:00am–5:30pm and Fri 8:00am–1:00pm, with benefits available.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture and/or other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Ensure all test requisitions match scripts and package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and maintain transport integrity per protocol.
