Job summary

Henderson Group in Washington DC (Georgia Ave NW) seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract role with potential for permanent placement. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with a projected duration of three months and possible extension. Benefits are available.

The ideal candidate will perform hard draws, handle geriatric patients respectfully, and ensure accurate specimen collection and labeling in a fast-paced clinical lab environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physician orders and match requisitions to specimens.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples per protocol to maintain integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
