Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. in Washington DC is seeking a phlebotomist for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm, with a focus on hard draws and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities include blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, specimen transport, and ensuring accuracy with test orders. Minimum qualifications include phlebotomy certification and at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and handle labeling, centrifuging, and decontamination.
• Collect and store specimens per established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly to patients in a courteous manner.
• Demonstrate technique with straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand physician orders and ensure accuracy.
• Match requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze as required.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store per protocol.
