Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract assignment in Washington DC. The role requires handling hard draws and care for geriatric patients, with a schedule 7am-4pm on weekdays and a Saturday morning shift.

The assignment is 3 months with potential for permanent placement, and benefits are available. Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, updating patient records, and ensuring proper specimen handling and transport.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification as required in the employing state.
• Minimum 5 years experience performing venipunctures in fast-paced labs or hospitals.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physician orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport and store properly to maintain integrity.
