Job summary

Calqulate Metrics Ltd seeks an experienced phlebotomist in Washington DC for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. The role involves hard draws, servicing geriatric patients, and performing venipuncture with attention to safety and accuracy.

The successful candidate will have a valid state phlebotomy certification, several years of blood-draw experience in a clinical setting, and proficiency with specimen handling and documentation. Benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 5 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow physicians' orders.
• Match requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples per protocol, maintaining integrity and OSHA/DEP compliance.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results as needed.
