Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum 5 years venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain clearly the venipuncture process and specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique with straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand physician orders and match requisitions to tubes.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples per protocol; follow OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results as needed.
