Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineer II to implement the Zero Injury Safety program at a project site, ensuring a safe environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors. You will lead safety programs, conduct training, track incidents, coordinate OSHA reporting, and support continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field.
• High school diploma with STS/CHST certification, OSHA 30 Hour training.
• Minimum seven years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work with safety program responsibility.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety-related software.
• Strong teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies to team members and outside parties.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.
• Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members.
• Assist project management in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities.
• Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level.
• Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
• Conduct work area safety audits.
• Conduct project’s leading and trailing indicator data/document collection and trend analyses.
• Conduct or assist with major incident analysis.
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics.
• Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements.
