Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I to implement the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction sites.

The role requires a safety education background, OSHA/CHST credentials, and extensive construction safety leadership experience. Travel up to 100% is expected to coordinate safety across diverse teams and sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent.
• CHST Certification, OSHA 500 and 10 years construction safety experience leading crews and planning work.
• Minimum of four years of construction safety experience.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software programs.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training.
• Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data.
• Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals.
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics.
• Provide safety information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards.
• Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis.
• Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers.
• Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships across backgrounds.
