Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Portland, OR is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety leader to enforce site compliance on a single construction project within the Oregon division. You will partner with HQ EH&S and project teams to train and guide on environmental health and safety programs.

The role focuses on reducing incident rates, developing site-specific safety training, reviewing subcontractor safety plans, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field with 6 years of construction safety experience or equivalent.
• CHST certification required or within 2 years of appointment.
• OSHA 30-hour training completed; maintain First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and local EH&S regulations; ability to lead corrective actions.
• Leadership, teamwork, and strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Travel willingness and ability to work on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead EH&S on a single construction project per HQ policy.
• Provide safety leadership and allocate time/resources for the project.
• Assess safety practices, develop action plans, and mitigate risks.
• Communicate requirements to project leadership and teams for adherence.
• Develop site-specific safety training and enforce safe work practices.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with regulations.
• Hold preconstruction planning meetings and ensure risk mitigation.
• Create safety reports, assess metrics, and recommend improvements.
• Ensure timely log of toolbox talks and conduct safety audits.
• Other duties as assigned.
