Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Safety Engineer II to implement the Zero Injury Safety program across project sites in Indiana, ensuring a safe environment for crews, subs, and visitors. The role demands proactive safety leadership and effective communication within a dynamic construction setting.

You will lead safety orientations, audits, and training, maintain incident data, and coordinate OSHA reporting while mentoring crews on hazard controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related field.
• Necessary certification: HS diploma, STS/CHST, OSHA 30 Hour, plus 7+ years construction safety leadership.
• Minimum of one year of related experience.
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety software.
• Strong customer service, professional attitude.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.
• Interpret and communicate company policies to team members.
• Strong teamwork, initiative and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members.
• Assist project management in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities.
• Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level.
• Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
• Conduct work area safety audits.
• Conduct project's leading and trailing indicator data/document collection and trend analyses.
• Conduct or assist with major incident analysis.
• Record, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics.
• Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements.
