Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Safety Engineer I to implement the Zero Injury Safety program at project sites, ensuring a safe environment for crew, subcontractors, and visitors.

The role requires strong safety program administration, incident analysis, and collaboration with client safety personnel. Travel up to 100% is possible, with a competitive base pay and incentive eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in occupational safety or related field preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour training with five years construction experience or equivalent.
• Experience administering safety programs and hazard analyses.
• Ability to interpret Mortenson policies to teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite.
• Document and track safety violations and conduct audits.
• Record and analyze injury, hazard statistics; coordinate OSHA reporting.
• Monitor subcontractor safety plans and Return to Work processes.
• Manage safety budget and lead safety meetings.

Education

Bachelor's or Associate's degree in occupational safety

High school diploma with CHST or STS certification or OSHA 30

Experience administering safety programs

Hazard analysis and safeguarding

Communication and public speaking
