Job summary

Harris, a national mechanical contractor with Minnesota offices, is offering a Summer 2027 Project Manager Intern role in Saint Paul. You’ll gain hands-on experience turning classroom lessons into real construction skills, working on projects from start to finish in a team setting.

As an intern you’ll encounter estimating, job setup, permits, safety, submittals, RFIs, and closeout manuals, while developing skills in reading construction documents, math, and communication.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in construction project management
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents
• Demonstrated proficiency in math and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Assist with estimating, job setup, contracts, permits and insurance certificates
• Support safety, purchasing, submittals, tracking materials and productivity
• Help with change orders and RFIs, and project closeout manuals and drawings

Your role as a Project Manager Intern

Our mission is to provide college students with on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process. As a Project Manager intern you will be given hands on opportunities to turn classroom lessons into real life skills in the construction industry.

Throughout the internship, you will have expose to all aspects of a project, start to finish, including the following:

Pre-Job

• Estimating
• Job Setup
• Job contracts
• Permits and insurance certificates

During Construction

• Safety
• Purchasing
• Submittals
• Tracking materials & equipment
• Productivity tracking
• Change orders and tracking
• RFIs

Job Closeout

• Project closeout O&M manuals
• As-recording drawings and warranties

What we’re looking for in you

• Must be a current student working toward degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry and project management
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents
• Demonstrated proficiency of math and analytical skills
• Must have strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication while working in a team environment

Pay Range

$19.42 - $29.14

The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
