Job summary

Harris in Rochester, MN is seeking a Project Manager Intern for Summer 2027. The role offers hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle—from pre-job estimating to closeout documentation—within a leading mechanical contracting context.

You will support estimating, contracts, permits and safety during construction, and assist with submittals, purchasing and tracking of materials. This internship emphasizes math, analytics, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or a related field.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in construction and project management.
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents.
• Demonstrated math proficiency and analytical skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Pre-Job activities including estimations, contracts, permits and insurance certificates.
• Support during Construction with safety, purchasing, submittals and tracking of materials and equipment.
• Track field personnel and productivity; manage change order submittals and tracking.
• Contribute to project closeout documents and warranties.

Your role as a Project Manager Intern

Our mission is to provide college students with on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process. As a Project Manager intern you will be given hands on opportunities to turn classroom lessons into real life skills in the construction industry.

Throughout the internship, you will have expose to all aspects of a project, start to finish, including the following:

Pre-Job

• Estimating
• Job contracts
• Permits and insurance certificates

During Construction

• Safety
• Purchasing
• Submittals
• Tracking materials & equipment
• Field personal tracking
• Productivity tracking
• Change order submittals and tracking

Job Closeout

• Project closeout O&M manuals
• As-recording drawings warranties

What We're Looking For In You

• Must be a current student working toward degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry and project management
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents
• Demonstrated proficiency of math and analytical skills
• Must have strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication while working in a team environment

Pay Range

$18.45 - $27.68
