Job summary

Harris Company in Bethesda is offering a Summer 2027 Construction Project Manager Internship. You will gain hands-on experience across all project phases from pre-job activities through closeout, applying classroom lessons to real-world construction management.

The role emphasizes understanding construction documents, math and analytical skills, and teamwork with strong communication. This internship provides exposure to estimating, purchasing, safety, and project documentation processes.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry and project management.
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents.
• Demonstrated proficiency of math and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Job: Estimating, job setup, contracts, permits and insurance certificates.
• During Construction: safety, purchasing, submittals, tracking materials and productivity, change orders, RFIs.
• Job Closeout: prepare O&M manuals, as-recording drawings and warranties.

Your role as a Construction Project Manager Intern

Our mission is to provide college students with on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process. As a Project Manager intern you will be given hands on opportunities to turn classroom lessons into real life skills in the construction industry.

Throughout the internship, you will have expose to all aspects of a project, start to finish, including the following:

Pre-Job:

• Estimating
• Job Setup
• Job contracts
• Permits and insurance certificates

During Construction:

• Safety
• Purchasing
• Submittals
• Tracking materials & equipment
• Productivity tracking
• Change orders and tracking
• RFIs

Job Closeout:

• Project closeout O&M manuals
• As-recording drawings and warranties

What we’re looking for in you

• Must be a current student working toward degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry and project management
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents
• Demonstrated proficiency of math and analytical skills
• Must have strong interpersonal skills with good verbal and written communication while working in a team environment

Pay Range:

$21.37 - $32.05

The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
