Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of a global food retailer, is seeking a Project Manager I for Store Development in Staunton, VA. You will manage new store, expansion and remodel projects from pre-construction through close-out, with a focus on schedules, budgets and vendor coordination.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The role requires 80% travel Monday-Thursday and a remote office day on Friday, with residency options in NC, SC or VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree; Preferred in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry
• Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts and processes
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects through influence and drive accountability across contractors, developers / landlords, vendors and cross-functional partners.
• Practical construction technology and methods
• Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and execute complex phased planning and construction schedules.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to recognize construction risk, evaluate alternatives and drive issues to resolution.
• Ability to travel weekly
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning capabilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and negotiate effectively.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented, demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage bidding/awarding processes for GCs, CMs, and subcontractors on Food Lion projects.
• Prepare contracts, purchase orders, processing, and payment of requisitions and invoices.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure timely completion and compliance with prototype standards.
• Develop schedules, phase plans, and milestones, monitoring progress against requirements.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Real Estate, Operations and other stakeholders.
