Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA, a leading grocery group, is seeking a versatile Project Manager I for store development, expansion and remodels across NC, SC and VA. You will manage bidding, contracts, budgets and schedules from pre-construction through warranty, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely openings.

Role requires 5–7 years in construction, a relevant bachelor’s degree, strong communication skills and weekly travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects through influence and drive accountability across contractors, developers/landlords, vendors and cross-functional partners.
• Experience with ground-up/new store construction, retail remodels, expansions and/or developer/landlord-built projects preferred.
• Ability to travel weekly.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with ability to communicate across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead bidding, contracting and requisition processes for Food Lion-contracted projects and oversee oversight for developer/landlord-built work.
• Plan and manage budgets, schedules, milestones and turnover requirements for multiple stores concurrently.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Real Estate, Preconstruction/Architectural & Engineering, Operations and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and review contracts, bid documents, RFQs and approvals to minimize cost overruns.
• Monitor safety, quality, and compliance; drive improvements and corrective actions as needed.
• Provide post‑award management, punch lists, warranties and closeout documents within required timelines.
