Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Engineer in Chester, VA, with 2–3 years of construction experience to support project management and field operations while growing into a Project Manager role. The position involves travel across Virginia and a mix of in-office and on-site work.

You will assist with planning, scheduling, budgeting, RFIs, and coordination among clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to keep projects on time, within budget, and aligned with quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.
• 2–3 years of construction experience, with field or project-based exposure.
• Hands-on project management experience in a construction environment.
• Experience on commercial construction projects.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel within Virginia.
• Motivation to grow into a Project Manager role.
• Understanding of project engineering and coordination processes.
• Ability to collaborate with project managers, field staff, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from start to finish.
• Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and tracking project progress.
• Coordinate field operations and support on-site teams.
• Participate in commercial construction activities and help manage day-to-day issues.
• Prepare and track RFIs and project documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
• Help manage multiple tasks across projects with strong organization.
• Travel to project sites across Virginia to monitor progress.
• Develop skills to transition into a PM role.
