Job summary

Sunrock is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of infrastructure and construction projects from pre-construction through completion. You will assist in estimating scope, coordinating schedules, managing material flow, and supporting financial performance.

Work with superintendents, subcontractors, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably, with opportunities to grow into a Project Manager role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 1–5 years of construction, project coordination, or estimating experience preferred.
• Experience with NCDOT, municipal, or heavy civil projects preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and construction-related software.

Responsibilities

• Estimate project scope, costs, and assist bid preparation.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and support construction estimates.
• Review plans, specifications, and contracts for accuracy.
• Coordinate schedules, materials, and subcontractors with field operations.
• Track project progress, timelines, and deliverables.
• Support project financial tracking, billing, and cost control.
• Prepare project documentation including change orders and reports.
• Communicate updates with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders.
• Assist in managing subcontractor performance and scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies (MSHA, OSHA).
• Monitor quality of work and adherence to project specs.
• Support continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives.
