Job summary

Sunrock in North Carolina is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of infrastructure and construction projects from pre-construction through completion.

You will help estimate scope, coordinate schedules, manage material flow, and support project financial performance while working with superintendents, subcontractors, and customers to deliver safe, efficient, and profitable projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 1–5 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or estimating.
• Experience with NCDOT, municipal, or heavy civil projects preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist in estimating project scope, costs, and bid preparation
• Perform quantity takeoffs and support development of construction estimates
• Review project plans, specifications, and contracts for accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate schedules, materials, and subcontractors with field operations
• Track project progress, timelines, and deliverables
• Support project financial tracking, billing, and cost control
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including change orders and reports
• Communicate project updates with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders
• Assist in managing subcontractor performance and scheduling
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, MSHA, OSHA, and project requirements
• Monitor quality of work and adherence to project specifications
• Support continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives
• Provide leadership through collaboration and accountability
• Perform other duties as assigned
