Job summary

Sunrock is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of infrastructure and construction projects from pre-construction through completion. You will assist in estimating scope, coordinating schedules, and managing material flow to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable projects.

The role involves working with superintendents, subcontractors, and customers, with typical hours Monday–Friday and extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; 1–5 years construction/estimation experience preferred.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required.
• Ability to read plans and coordinate schedules; strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in estimating project scope, costs, and bid preparation
• Perform quantity takeoffs and support development of construction estimates
• Review project plans, specifications, and contracts for accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate schedules, materials, and subcontractors with field operations
• Track project progress, timelines, and deliverables
• Support project financial tracking, billing, and cost control
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including change orders and reports
• Communicate project updates with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders
• Assist in managing subcontractor performance and scheduling
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, MSHA, OSHA, and project requirements
• Monitor quality of work and adherence to project specifications
• Support continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives
• Provide leadership through collaboration and accountability
• Perform other duties as assigned
