Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Austin, TX is seeking a Project Engineer to manage information and supervise assistants, ensuring the project is built on time, within budget and to the contract quality. You will liaise with architects, subcontractors and Owner's Representatives; oversee drawings, submittals, changes orders and the close-out package; manage the budget and develop scope documents for trades.

Strong communication, the ability to read and interpret contract documents, and proficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and four years of related construction experience or equivalent combination.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Architects, Subcontractors, Consultants, Suppliers, Inspectors and Owners' Representatives to resolve plan/spec issues.
• Oversee and resolve conflicts in interpretation; ensure drawings relate to the estimate.
• Manage project budget and submittals/shop drawings; approve changes as required.
• Negotiate Change Orders and prepare independent analyses; obtain approvals from Architect and Owner.
• Oversee the close-out process: RFIs, warranties, O&Ms, and spare parts; ensure contract compliance.
• Supervise Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Clerks, and Interns; input on performance appraisals.
