Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager for a growing construction organization with a multi-state workforce. You will oversee hourly and salaried payroll, manage union payroll, and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, payroll tax rules, and prevailing wage requirements.

The role requires leadership of a payroll team, strong analytics, and collaboration with HR, accounting, and operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll leadership experience in construction.
• Experience with union payroll and multi-state payroll.
• Strong knowledge of certified payroll and prevailing wage regulations.
• Experience with high-volume payroll processing for field and corporate staff.
• CPP certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states.
• Lead union payroll processing ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
• Review and approve weekly/bi-weekly payroll runs for accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Manage certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage requirements.
• Oversee payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits, and union contributions.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and support month-end/quarter-end/year-end close.
• Lead payroll audits and respond to audit requests.
• Maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Operations on onboarding and compensation changes.
