Job summary

Atlas seeks an experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee the full payroll process for a unionized workforce, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance with contracts and labor laws.

You will liaise with union representatives and internal departments, manage records and timekeeping, and conduct audits and reporting. The role includes tax compliance, benefits integration, and system optimization to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher is required.
• 3–5 years payroll experience, preferably in unionized/construction settings.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems, labor laws, multi-state payroll and union regulations.
• Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to liaise with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full payroll process for unionized employees.
• Ensure payroll aligns with union contracts and labor regulations.
• Set up new employees in payroll system and maintain files.
• Monitor hours, overtime, and paid time off to ensure accurate compensation.
• Conduct payroll audits and provide reports; complete certified payroll, OCIP and CCIP reports.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and coordinate tax filings.
• Collaborate with HR on benefits contributions and deductions.
• Maintain and improve payroll software systems for efficiency.
• Train staff on payroll processes and best practices.
• Serve as primary contact for payroll inquiries from employees, union representatives, and management.
