Job summary

S&ME is seeking a Construction Materials Engineering Technician in Columbus, OH. This full-time role offers hands-on training, mentorship, and potential leadership paths for experienced technicians.

You’ll perform field and lab testing on concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates, collect samples, and prepare analyses and reports while collaborating with engineers and project managers. Whether starting out or bringing experience, you’ll be part of a team dedicated to quality, safety, and client

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred for advanced levels.
• Experience levels: Technician I–IV with 0-2, 2+, 3+, 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Certifications: ACI Field Testing Grade I; ICC Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).
• Demonstrated ability to follow safety guidelines and work with field and lab testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Field & lab testing on construction materials (concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates).
• Sample collection and preparation for analysis.
• Interpret test results and prepare detailed reports.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to meet specifications and safety standards.
