Job summary

S&ME in Knoxville, TN seeks a Construction Materials Engineering Technician for a full-time role. You will perform field and laboratory testing on concrete, asphalt, soil and aggregates, with hands-on training and opportunities to lead projects as you gain experience.

You will collect samples, interpret data, and report results while following safety guidelines. A HS diploma is required; an associate degree is preferred for advanced levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred for advanced levels.
• Experience ranges from 0-2 years to 5+ years across Technician I-IV levels.
• Certifications such as ACI Field Testing Grade I and ICC Special Inspector are preferred.
• Strong English communication and basic math is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing on concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.
• Collect and prepare samples for analysis and interpret results.
• Prepare detailed reports and ensure work meets safety and project specs.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project managers; adapt to schedule changes.
