Job summary

S&ME is hiring a part-time Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician in Chattanooga, TN. You will start outdoors, perform field and lab tests, and help ensure quality and safety on active projects, while learning concrete sampling, soils, asphalt, and masonry.

You will gain hands-on experience, with paid on-the-job training and opportunities to pursue ACI and ICC certifications, all within an outdoor, dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to learn and obtain certifications as part of growth.
• Strong work ethic and teamwork.
• Attention to detail and English communication skills.
• Basic math skills and understanding of weight/volume/units.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and lab tests on construction materials.
• Assist with sampling and testing of concrete, soils, asphalt, and masonry.
• Maintain equipment and document results per IBC standards.
• Occasionally travel to project sites.
• Work outdoors with PPE and safety protocols.
