Job summary

S&ME is hiring Construction Materials Engineering Technicians to join our Augusta, Georgia team. You will perform field and lab tests on concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates, collect samples, and interpret results for detailed reports.

The role offers training, mentorship, and opportunities for advancement in a collaborative, safety‑minded culture. Experience levels vary with certifications; travel and occasional overtime are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levels
• Industry certifications such as: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, and/or International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Basic math proficiency, including an understanding of measurements and units of weight
• Understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel

Responsibilities

• Field & Lab Testing: Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates
• Sample Collection & Prep: Collecting and preparing samples for analysis
• Data Interpretation & Reporting: Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports
• Team Collaboration & Compliance: Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure all work meets specifications and safety guidelines
