Job summary

SteerBridge, Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a Construction Manager – Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing) to lead plumbing, HVAC, and other mechanical systems for VA medical facilities.

This full-time onsite role covers planning, design review, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout with emphasis on patient safety and infection control. You will coordinate with VA staff, architects, engineers, and contractors, review plans and submittals, perform site inspections, track actions,

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Minimum of six (6) years of mechanical engineering experience in design/construction for healthcare or institutional facilities.
• Knowledge of local, state, federal VA design criteria, codes, and life-safety standards.
• Eligibility to obtain Public Trust Clearance and VA PIV badge.

Responsibilities

• Serve as owner’s representative for plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, change requests, and cost estimates for accuracy and constructability.
• Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Coordinate with VA staff, architects, engineers, contractors, and commissioning agents.
• Conduct site inspections and track corrective actions for deficiencies.
• Maintain project documentation and VA-required records.
