Job summary

Planate Management Group (PMG) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering and construction management support for the Chiller Plant System at the Miami VA Medical Center, ensuring design intent compliance.

The role involves reviewing designs, monitoring progress, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams on federal healthcare projects. This full-time position is contingent on contract award with a one-year term and three option years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, or 10 years related experience in lieu of degree.
• Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in Florida preferred/required.
• 7+ years of experience in construction/project management.
• Knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting.
• Review mechanical and plumbing designs, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor construction progress and adherence to schedule and budget.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in resolving RFIs and design clarifications.
• Support cost estimating, change orders, and project controls.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
