Job summary

Planate Management Group seeks a Mechanical Engineer/PM to provide engineering and construction management support for chiller plant systems at the Miami VA Medical Center. You will ensure design intent alignment and adherence to project objectives across all phases.

The role is contingent on contract award for one year with three option years, involving coordination with diverse teams and compliance with VA, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience (10 years in lieu of degree).
• Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of Florida.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction/project management.
• Experience with chiller utility systems in federal or healthcare projects preferred.
• Knowledge of VA standards, FAR, NFPA, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support construction management activities including inspections and reporting.
• Review mechanical and plumbing systems design, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Maintain project documentation, logs, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications.
• Support cost estimating, change order analysis, and project controls.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
